As per the Daily News, the National Hockey League's department of discipline will be making their decision on Andre Dexeaux and his elbow to the head of Tomas Fleischman from last night's loss in Florida sometime tomorrow. The actual hearing between Deveaux and the league, which will be held over the phone, will be conducted later today.
Normally when the hearings are done via teleconference, more often than not the resulting suspension is five games or less. There's no official writing that says that, but it's a trend that's held true in most cases so far this year. It was a pretty blatant elbow, so this could really go either way, but I think Brendan Shanahan will also take into consideration that Fleischman ended up being fine and returned to the game later that same period.
Nonetheless, I would still expect the Rangers to make a call-up from the Connecticut Whale (AHL) before tomorrow afternoon's match with the Washington Capitals. Personally, I would like to see Mats Zuccarello get an opportunity with the team because by right, he should be the next in line if Deveaux is sent down. You also have players such as Carl Hagelin and Ryan Bourque who could get the recall as well, though.
Lastly, I would like to wish all of my U.S. readers a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you all have a wonderful day. The Rangers are scheduled to practice in Washington at 1 p.m. today, so if there is any news from that worth sharing, I will just add it on to this post.
UPDATE:The Rangers have recalled forwards Carl Hagelin and John Mitchel from the Connecticut Whale of the AHL.
