I called out head coach John Tortorella in last night's postgame following the 4-1 loss to the Devils, saying that mistakes were made before the puck was even dropped. Those mistakes included the scratching of forward John Mitchell and defenseman Jeff Woywitka, and the inclusion of John Scott in the lineup.
Well, today while following the team's updates on Twitter during practice, I quickly noticed that Tortorella made two significant changes; John Mitchell was in a yellow jersey and Anton Stralman was paired with Michael Del Zotto. Translation: Mitchell will be in the lineup on the fourth line tomorrow against the Senators, and Anton Stralman will also be back skating with Michael Del Zotto on the second defensive pairing.
You think Tortorella is regretting those changes made prior to last night's tilt? I do, and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Mitchell or Stralman would've changed the outcome. However, I am pointing out that the coach is second-guessing himself and this isn't exactly the best time to be doing that.
Also, Brandon Dubinsky left Tuesday's game in the first period after an early bout with Ryan Carter. It was originally reported that Dubi did not return because of a hand injury, but the Daily News says that the team put out a statement saying that it's his nose/sinuses instead. I guess that would make more sense considering he did take quite a few blows straight to the face.
Dubinsky will travel with the team to Ottawa but it is unknown whether or not he will play.
