Erik Christensen Discusses Ranger Debut

Erik Christensen spoke with Andrew Gross after this morning's pregame skate and discussed his game and how he will be looking to contribute in his Rangers debut tonight in Buffalo. Head coach John Tortorella also spoke about the new acquisition and what they have worked on thus far.

“I just don’t feel it’s in my best interest to be nervous and overthink,” Christensen said. “I just want to go out and compete and play as hard as I can. Hopefully the coach likes what he sees. I just want to have fun playing hockey. I hope it’s a fit.

“I was on skates at two - in the end, it’s just hockey,” Christensen said. “Because of how much money we make, the fans, the media, have the right to expect us to be perfect. But hockey is a game of mistakes. There’s a lot of systems, a lot of Xs and Os to it. But, at the end of the day, it’s just hockey and you have to enjoy it.”

“We just want him to play, we don’t want him thinking,” Tortorella said. “He’s practiced well, you can see that he skates well. You can see he has good hands. That’s practice. I don’t want to give him too much information as far as the structure. He has the foundation, now he’s just going to play.”
