I just saw this hit from last night's Bruins and Maple Leafs game, when Johnny Boychuk cut across center ice and leveled Toronto forward Matt Stajan, causing a brawl and sending Stajan off with a blood-covered face. Obviously the whole head shot thing is being reviewed by the National Hockey League, but this particular hit was due to a lack of keeping your head up. Stajan should know better than to skate in the neutral zone looking at the puck, being that the neutral zone is the most common for open-ice hits. Take a look for yourself below, and pay close attention to the battle between defensemen Zdeno Chara and Mike Komisarek, two of the toughest in the game.

he should defenitly get fined and suspended cause he left he feet i could see if he just leveled him like a scott stevens hit.
Watching it again, yes, you are right, based on past incidents there should be a suspension to Boychuk. He did leave his feet and aim high.
I have to disagree with both of these comments. He left his feet after the hit because of his momentum- he did not leave his feet to deliver the hit, which would warrant a fine/suspension. In terms of aiming high, boychuk is a defenseman who is several inches taller than stajan. Stajan also has his head down looking at the puck, so he put himself in a position where his head was lined up with Boychuk's shoulder/elbow. Is Boychuk supposed to kneel down to make the hit?
He should have had his head up, I"ll agree with that much.
