Evening Update: Stepan, Bourque and Kreider on USA Preliminary Roster

Now that things have calmed down with the Ranger World rocking this afternoon when the Blueshirts waived Steve Valiquette, Recalled Chad Johnson, and Claimed Erik Christensen, I would like to report of something that was announced this afternoon. Team USA has announced their preliminary roster for the 2010 World Junior Tournament later this month into January. Among this roster where Rangers prospects Ryan Bourque, Derek Stepan, and Chris Kreider.

Ryan Bourque and Chris Kreider were both drafted this past June, while Stepan was welcomed into the Rangers Organization in the second round of the 2008 Draft. Third round draft pick Ryan Bourque has tore it up in the QMJHL, registering twelve goals and 14 assists in 26 games played this season. Stepan has put up 15 points in 14 games played, and Kreider, playing with Boston College, has four goals and 4 assists in twelve games.

I, personally, am looking forward to this tournament as I really got into it for the first time last year. Obviously rooting for the United States, I enjoyed the energy and the emotion in the tournament games. This is a serious deal for prospects and they want to win. It is sort of like the Junior Olympics just to put it into perspective for you. Getting a live look at future Rangers will mean a lot to us fans as well.
